New Favorite

I had the opportunity last weekend to go see a movie by myself. Never happened before. Holly took all 4 kids to see High School Musical 3. I had no desire to see it so I went to The Secret Life of Bees. Amazing movie! Bring Kleenex and a girlfriend to this one. It's not been highly advertised in our area but I remembered reading the book. Great story, great movie, I am adding it to my favorites list!

Pumpkin Patch

On Monday the 13Th mom and I took the daycare kids to Meier's Pumpkin Patch. It was a bit of an overcast day which was great because it keep it from being to busy. The kids didn't have any school and mom was off work so it worked out great for us to go. It didn't start to rain until we were eating our lunch at McDonald's. This patch is great for so many reasons. They have huge slides and blow up jumping toys. They have big areas of places to jump into straw. They have a hay rack ride and a large patch for picking your own pumpkin.

The kids love to pick their own pumpkins and we take them home and color them with markers on a different day.

You can see that they love the big slides. This year I paired a school kid up with a preschool kid and I think it worked really well. Of course they were all ways somewhere where mom or I could see them but this gave the older kids a little more responsibility and the little kids love to hang out with the "big" kids. I am very lucky this year to not have any strollers or diapers and I have to admit that I like it that way. Yes I get sad for a baby occasionally but the freedom to go this year has been nice.
There is no way I could go and do this without mom. Thanks MOM!!

Corn Maze

On Friday October 10Th we went to Garry's Berries and Frightmare Farm. Dad's sister Janet and her husband Dean were visiting from Seattle. We spent about and hour and a half in the corn maze. Cody and Jake had said for weeks that they we're going to go into the haunted house this year. As we stand in line they both start to panic and decide they were not going in. I had already purchased the $8 tickets and I wasn't going to waste them like I did last year so I drug them in. Jake screamed the entire time and I laughed so hard my stomach hurt the next day. Now some of you probably think this borders on the line of child abuse but I wanted them to learn that it was all pretend. I think they both did. I really wish I could have taken pictures of Jake's face when he was screaming because I know I would win the million on Funniest Home Videos. Cody was a little less afraid than Jake but did his fair share of screaming.
In the picture around the ear of corn are clockwise: Cody, Brady, Telsa,Layne, Carley, Kaelyn with Jake in the face of the cob. I must not have had the settings right on my camera because I didn't get great night shots. Any of you picture taking professionals have any suggestions? Please let me know if you do.

This is Brady coming out the bottom of a big slide.

Flag Footabll

Just a couple of flag football pictures. Mike surprised us by coming home on Sunday the 5Th. Which was great because he got to see both boys play flag football. However he and I spent so much time gabbing that I didn't take hardly any pictures.

This first picture shows just about half of Rick's daughter Shelby, she and Cody are on the same team.

Saturday October 4th

I wanted to include a few more football pictures I am sure everyone is getting tired of tackle pictures. I am posting these because they are pictures of the only game we won all season. The first picture is Cody's first attempt at the extra point following the touchdown. Unfortunately he didn't make it. Not making excuses but he was kicking into some pretty strong wind. He hit the upright with the football and you could see the goal shaking for quite awhile. It was a great try.
This weekend starts the Super Bowl of tackle football and you only keep playing as long as you keep winning. I am afraid our time is short.

Flag Football

Carbondale Rec sponsors a flag football program every fall and both boys have been playing since 1st grade. It's a little less competitive than tackle football but is a great way to learn the fundamentals.

Yes that means more time for me at the football field. I love it though and think it's great for them to be getting the exercise.

Cody started out the season with a bye so he got to go to the Chiefs game with Holly

Jake's team played and did a great job. They don't keep score at these games and they play the width of the field instead of the length. Jake did a great job at grabbing flags and our team had more touchdowns than the other team (obviously some of us keep score).
